As a young man, Kirk was a talented footballer, playing for Carey Park, Swan Districts and Collingwood Football Club, and was selected in the WAFL state team on two occasions. Losing his Dad at the age of 15, and his Mum at age 24, Kirk turned to alcohol as a way to cope with life. With five kids, together with Dae, Kirk has committed to turning his life around. In early 2023, Kirk began his rehabilitation journey from alcohol addiction and has completed four months of in-patient treatment.
